Wedding Planner Check List
12-24 MONTHS BEFORE YOUR WEDDING DATE
- Announce your engagement
- Set your date
- Set a budget
- Choose the style, formality, and colors or theme of your wedding
- Pick your attendants
- Select your locations for the ceremony and reception
- Reserve your caterer if an on site service is not available
- Choose your officiant and investigate the need for pre-marital counseling
9-12 MONTHS PRIOR
- Choose your florist
- Begin dress shopping if you are not using a designer
- Continue to meet with your consultant to ensure the appropriate progress is being made
- Choose your photographer and videographer
6-9 MONTHS PRIOR
- Choose your attendants’ gowns
- Assist mothers in selecting gowns
- Begin your honeymoon planning
- Reserve your date with the musicians or DJ you’ve chosen
- Choose your wedding bands and have engraving done
- Begin shopping for wedding favors
- Choose your cake and cake topper
- Reserve all wedding rentals (tents, chairs, linens, flatware, etc.)
4-6 MONTHS PRIOR
- Finalize your honeymoon travel arrangements
- Book accommodations for out of town guests
- Register with your favorite shops and boutiques
- Reserve or purchase tuxedos
- Purchase all accessories, shoes and incidentals for the wedding day
- Choose hair and make-up boutique, reserve the date
- Shop for wedding favors, serving sets, and guest book
- Purchase your invitations, thank you cards, etc.
2-4 MONTHS PRIOR
- Mail invitations
- Get your marriage license
- Dress fittings with accessories, shoes & undergarments for all women in the wedding
- Check-in with your vendors to make sure the details have been finalized
- Buy your wedding party gifts
- Make certain your groom and groomsmen have all been fitted for their tuxes
- If writing personalized vows, now is the time to begin writing them
- Select Skin Care and Color Consultant to coordinate colors of women who are going to be in pictures
FINAL MONTH
- Make reservations for rehearsal dinner
- Finalize details with officiant
- Final fittings
- Pick up your wedding bands
- Create itinerary for the day
- Make reception seating arrangements as RSVPs arrive
- Shop for your honeymoon needs and finalize travel arrangements
- Pick up your gown
- Send wedding announcements to local newspapers
- Write thank you notes as gifts arrive
FINAL WEEK
- Pick up the tux
- Attend rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
- Set aside payments for all wedding vendors to leave with the best man or whomever you’ve chosen to handle the payments
AFTER THE WEDDING
- Send thank you notes for every gift
- Legally change your name if you plan too
- Make a wedding scrap-book to commemorate your special day
